check in easy enough a few forms to fill in and pre authorization of the card to be paid with.
room great couldn’t really ask for a better room, suites arnt always the best rooms. 180⁰ views. bathroom great view. nice heated toilet seat.
in-room service easy enough they set a table for you and bring it in to use. pricey for what you get some dishes are good value and some are not. Overall House keeping very good, rooms clean. Room service staff friendly.
Afternoon tea in Ting, I had pre-asked for a window seat and the reservation was booked in for 12 which is when Ting opens, so we got a nice window seat. When I booked it was the picnic tea but when we got there it was a new rainforest menu, it’s subject to change. Asked for the vegan option as otherwise it was duck and pork (didn’t really fancy), vegan savory food fine, vegan scones had raisins in and had to ask for plain. The other deserts, I didn’t think were great, mum liked the macaroons. The presentation of the dishes were nice.
Food is brought out in stages. A palate cleaner of mango juice (I think) is given and served on dry ice which has a nice effect. Service fine. And overall nice.
The view from the shard, £33 each. I got the premium package – this included fast track tickets, which wasn’t needed at the time of 9pm, due to it only being 1hr till closing. times are of your own choosing. security includes a scanner and a bag check x-ray thingy. then photos are taken if you have a premium package (free for online downloads only). You are given a paper card with a code on for when you’re leaving for collecting your photos.
two elevators are needed to get to the top.
Had a good look around the top, bar on 68/69 and then the viewing platform itself on 72, this is open at the top so can be breezy.
overall a very good view.
I actually lost the card given to me for the photo package and I told the staff at the end, a kind lady retook them for us.
On a good day it would be nice to use the bar at the top on 72.
