Mexico trip!

I had a week’s long holiday to Mexico to see the Mayan ruins –

March 2024

Valladolid

The first location after landing in Cancun, was to travel to Valladolid – so we were close to chichen itza

There’s a lack of Uber drivers – so unfortunately we had to use a local taxi which was quite expensive for a nearly 2hr trip inland

Below is a video of the hotel we resided at for the first few nights

Chichen itza

Obviously as a wonder of the world this was amazing

But what ruined it was the amount of locals who were allowed to just set up market stalls within the sacred site, nearly everywhere along walkways. It ruined it.

Cenote oxoman

This was a short drive from the hotel in Valladolid

Ek balam

Another really interesting site nearby the hotel !

Tulum

The next location was Tulum, the below video showcases the next hotel we stayed at, till the end of the holiday

Muyil

This place was a little out of the way of everything – so we could only run down a taxi from the side of the road, we asked the staff if they could call us one and they said they couldn’t – which wasn’t helpful

Lagoon

On the way back from muyil – we stopped off at a nice lagoon

Tulum ruins

This was a lengthy walk, there was an entrance fee plus the entrance fee to the ruins !

On returning to our TUI hotel, we stopped off at a beach which was easily accessible from the long walkway,

Overall we had taxis to all places we wanted to go to

Mexico itself was a pretty place !
